Confidence. Discovery. Giving back. Thanks to you, a healthier tomorrow starts here, at the YMCA-YWCA!
When you come to the Y you find a vibrant community where people are improving their health, strengthening their well-being, and transforming their lives. We know that when you belong to a supportive community, when you show up for others and give back, there are no limits to what you can achieve.
Happy Birthday Marion!
Long-time Y supporter Marion Balla celebrated her birthday with a charitable flare. Marion and approximately 100 of her closest friends gathered together to reminisce, share in cheer, and give back to the community. With information about the Y shared leading up to the party, and Marion sharing how much the Y has meant to the Balla family, friends were asked to donate to the Y in lieu of gifts. In honour of Marion’s birthday, over $5000 was raised to give kids and families in our community their own reason to celebrate! Thanks again to Marion and her entire party planning team!
The Holiday Season is a hard time of year for many people, but especially for those living in a shelter. We are so grateful to the many supporters who helped make the holiday season a bit brighter for those staying here at the Y.
Keller Engineering gave the youth in our Second Stage Housing program the gift of a holiday meal. All 17 members of the program were invited out to enjoy a holiday meal at The Works!
The Metcalfe Hotel Senior Management team added some joy to the Second Stage Housing program this season by collecting gift cards to places all around the city - ensuring that the youth had something to open on Christmas morning.
Marion Balla and the Adlerian Centre also made sure that there was a warm Christmas meal available for the residents of our TRY Women’s Supportive Housing program. Thanks to their warm-hearted donation, the program participants enjoyed a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings!
Y Staff members helped fulfill the wishes of many children from the Y’s childcare programs by purchasing presents for those families who are experiencing financial hardships
The Goodnight Project donated Christmas Eve bags ‘ filled with toiletries, a throw blanket, a gift card, and a few more goodies for the Second Stage Housing youth.
The Christmas Cheer Foundation helped both the Try Women’s Supportive Housing Program and the Second Stage Housing program by ensuring they had food for a social and festive breakfast
There are many others who have donated throughout the past few months to help create a warm, joyful, and loving holiday for all of those who access the Y. Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you have done and continue to do for the Y. It is thanks to you that the individuals who turn to us in their time of need can receive the support, caring, and understanding they need. It is thanks to you that their road forward can start right here at the Y.
