With Thanksgiving behind us and the holiday season ahead of us, I can’t help but think of all the Y has to be grateful for. It can really be summed up in one word: community.
We are grateful for our community of donors, corporate partnerships, volunteers, participants, and members. Not only are we grateful for you, but for your commitment to the Y’s mission: it is only through our collaboration with you that we can work together to build a stronger community and therefore a stronger tomorrow.
One of my favorite things about my job is getting to speak to people about their connection with the Y- their Y story, so to speak. I am always struck by the fact that every time I have the opportunity to listen to one of these stories I am met with the same common phrase – no matter what program helped to transform their lives:
“The Y is like family – it is not just another gym/shelter/daycare/etc.”
I hope in this issue of Inspired Giving you also feel the sense of community that I am talking about. From the close knit internal culture of the Y thatRob Adams has felt as his Y journey progresses, to the local organizations that give back each in their own different way.
Thank you for ensuring the Y is ready for those when they need us most – thank you for ensuring we are there when someone needs the support of a family – a community.
With much admiration and gratitude,
Manager, Annual Giving and Donor Stewardship
