Confidence. Discovery. Giving back. Thanks to you, a healthier tomorrow starts here, at the YMCA-YWCA!

When you come to the Y you find a vibrant community where people are improving their health, strengthening their well-being, and transforming their lives. We know that when you belong to a supportive community, when you show up for others and give back, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

Thank You to our Volunteers!

From April 7th to 13th we celebrated National Volunteer week. The Y has a long-standing relationship with volunteers in our community. In fact, it is because of volunteers that we are able to offer all the programs that we do. From children’s programming and fitness classes, to fundraising, and camp clean-up. Volunteers are at the heart of the Y Community.

So, on behalf of the over 80,000 people who walk through the doors of the Y each year, thank you!

Another Successful Y Cycle!

Small Y CYCLE Photo.jpg

On April 14th, almost 90 riders from across our city took part in the Y Cycle for Strong Kids, Powered by Dilfo HVAC Services. Thanks to all of our participants for their fundraising efforts and their motivation to cycle for two hours, over $65,000 was raised for local children.

We would also like to give a special shout-out to our amazing volunteer committee working behind the scenes to make this event possible, and to our instructors Anna Lawrence, Adam Wilkinson, Chris Stead, and Kathy Godding for volunteering their time to pull together a heart-pumping ride.

Additionally, a big thank you to our sponsors who help ensure this event is possible - Dilfo HVAC Services, PBC Group, Regional Group, Carleton Financial Services: Ken Guarisco, and Ottawa Pool Works.

This event really helps show how when the community works together we can make great things happen. Thank you to everyone!

Thanks to the Metcalfe Hotel!

Thank you to our long-time partner the Metcalfe Hotel for donating a ton of amazing brand-new art supplies for various Y programs. This locally owned, boutique hotel is not just another place to stay when you are visiting Ottawa. It is a business that is rooted in strengthening the very heart of our community - the people. We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing support for all of our Y programs.

The Law Community Scores Again!

On April 4th, law firms accompanied by their family, friends, and allied professionals, descended on the University of Ottawa to partake in the annual Lawyers for Kids Hockey Tournament - raising $33,500.

This year’s tournament saw teams from: Bird Richard; BLG; CazaSaikaley; Emond Harnden; Finlayson & Singlehurst; Gowling WLG; Lyttle, McGarry, Del Greco LLP; McMillan; MDR Associates; Perley-Roberston, Hill & McDougall LLP; RBC Wealth Management; Smith, Petrie, Carr, and Scott; and Teirney Stauffer LLP.

Thanks to our amazing volunteer committee who give of their time to ensure this annual event takes place. It is truly because of them and all of the players in this year’s tournament that children and families in our community will have access to safe and affordable before and after school care - something they would not otherwise be able to afford.
