I am so excited to be back from maternity leave – just in time to see the culmination of our annual Y Strong Kids Campaign. This year has been a banner year - members joined the Y Cycle for Strong Kids, parents supported a wide range of opportunities to give other kids in the community a chance to attend camp or receive safe childcare, and kids across the organization joined the fundraising efforts in their own small but mighty ways.
One of the things I love most about working at the Y is hearing all of the ways the organization has affected people – each in their own exceptional way. In this issue of Inspired Giving, I am making an effort to share some of the Y stories that have touched me most, both through the Y Strong Kids Campaign and beyond. Inspired individuals like André Goldenberg who faced his fears and took the leap in last year’s Cliffhanger event; strong people like Sandra Tisiot who sought the help of the Y during a pivotal point of her successful life journey; and remarkable children like James who found his self-confidence through Y camps.
While each story is unique, the common thread that runs between them is the Y – and it is thanks to all of you that we were here to help them along their journey, each in their own unique way. I look forward not only to sharing these stories with you, but I hope to hear from you as well. You never know who you will inspire with your Y story – why you choose the Y as your gym, why you have made the Y part of your charitable mission, or why the Y was there for you.
With much admiration and gratitude,
Manager, Annual Giving and Donor Stewardship
