The Home Depot Orange Door Project
Each summer, Home Depot runs a fundraising program whereby customers are encouraged to donate $2 and purchase an ‘Orange Door’ to be hung on the walls of their stores. The proceeds of this campaign helps support the Home Depot Foundation’s efforts to end youth homelessness in Canada.
This past holiday season, for the first time, Home Depot added a second initiative to the campaign to help raise funds during the winter months as well. All of the proceeds from the Orange Door Campaign at the South Keys Ottawa location went to the Second Stage Youth Housing Program. In its inaugural holiday season initiative, over $1,600 was raised!
Christmas Cheer Breakfast
Each holiday season, the Christmas Cheer Foundation holds their annual Christmas Cheer Breakfast event. The unofficial kickoff to the holiday season in Ottawa, the annual breakfast welcomes over 1,000 people to The Westin hotel for a morning of networking, great food, and of course - holiday cheer! This year's event raised over $120,000 to help feed people in our community at Christmas time.
In both 2016 and 2017, the Y was selected as a charity of choice, with a portion of the funds supporting our Second Stage and TRY housing programs. We are so thankful to Christmas Cheer for helping make the holidays a little brighter again this year!
