About the Y Cliffhanger

Take the leap and rappel down 16 stories! This year's event will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2017. Don't miss out on your chance to see the city like only the most fearless fundraiser can! Cliffhanger participants are asked to raise $1000 to participate in this this unique, profile picture worthy thrill ride. This year, all funds raised will help make camp experiences possible for kids who would never otherwise have the chance. Each $1000 raised is enough to send FIVE kids to camp for a week! 


New this year!

Challenge your friends to join your team, or fly solo - it's up to you! Starting a team is a great way to help share the fundraising goal: for each team member you recruit, your team goal decreases by $150. There's no limit to the size of your team!

For example:

Single Soarer: $1000 personal goal
Dynamic Duo: $1850 team goal
Thrill-seeking Trio: $2700 team goal

 

Early bird discount

Register by April 30, 2017 and we'll refund your $35 registration fee as soon as you hit your fundraising goal.

Plus, you'll get preferred treatment when we make the participant schedule, so you'll have the best chance of getting your first choice of rappel time.

About the cause - Y Camps

We know that camp can have a profoundly positive and lasting effect on children. This year, all funds raised by Y Cliffhanger participants will help send kids in our community to camp, where they will learn new skills, explore hidden talents, develop friendships and create lasting memories. 

For more than 60 years, the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region has been providing opportunities for children to attend camp, and ensuring that low-income families, and those experiencing financial hardship, are not excluded from participating. We are dedicated to keeping Y camps accessible for every child and youth in our communities, but we can’t do it alone – your help is critical!

Over 5,000 kids take part in Y camps each year - over 47% of these kids require financial assistance in order to attend. You can help kids find a place of belonging and transformation. A place where they are encouraged to explore and learn in a safe, fun and supportive environment.
